How Do I Choose the Best Vitamins for Semen?

Men who are looking to improve the quality and quantity of their sperm and semen may want to try changing their diet to increase intake of the main vitamins critical to their production. One of the best vitamins for semen is B12, which helps boost both the number of sperm you produce and their motility. Another important vitamin is C, which is an antioxidant that can stop free radicals which will damage your sperm, and like B12, increases both count and motility. The final vitamin that is known to improve semen quality is E, another antioxidant that strengthens the sperm. You should eat foods or look for a supplement that provides all of these vitamins, plus certain other minerals and amino acids like zinc, selenium, and arginine.

When you are choosing vitamins for semen, it is important to include B12. Many men do not get enough B12, and it is critical for producing large quantities of sperm and semen. Your sperm will also lose motility if there is not enough vitamin B12 in your body, another reason it is necessary to ensure you are getting adequate amounts.

C is another of the most important vitamins for semen for several reasons. It also has a significant impact on the quantity of sperm produced by your body and its motility. This vitamin can help prevent damage to your sperm by reducing the effect of free radicals since it is an antioxidant. Vitamin C can also help reduce the chances that your sperm will clump together as they move.

Semen is produced in the testes, which are contained in the scrotum.

Getting enough vitamin E in your diet is also necessary for healthy semen and sperm production. Like vitamin C, it is an antioxidant that can decrease damaging free radicals, and it also contributes to sperm motility. Also, E contributes to the overall health and strength of the sperm, giving them the ability to penetrate and fertilize an egg.

While you are choosing the right vitamins for semen, it is important to remember that other nutrients are vital as well. Minerals such as zinc, folic acid, and selenium all contribute to the production, health, and motility of your sperm and semen. Amino acids like arginine and carnitine are also critical to sperm health, as are omega fatty acids. To increase the likelihood that your semen will be healthy and fertile, try to include foods or supplements that incorporate all of these into your diet.

In addition to the supplements mentioned here, fish oil and coenzyme Q10 are also beneficial for semen. My husband takes both.

@fBoyle-- I'm not an expert on this topic but I think that when most people are talking about vitamins for semen, they actually mean vitamins for sperm. Of course semen is different and it's important for healthy sperm because that's what keeps sperm alive. A healthy diet and drinking enough water are important factors for semen.

I think that if someone eats healthy, takes a multi-vitamin and exercises regularly, he will have health semen as well as sperm. It all goes together. So taking the vitamins recommended for healthy semen will also support healthy sperm.

Are the vitamins for sperm and semen the same? Semen is the fluid that sperm are found in and as far as I know, it is mosly made up of water and fructose. Sperm are different, they are cells and have a different composition.

So the vitamins that are beneficial for sperm and the vitamins that are beneficial for semen should vary a little bit right?
