What are the Pros and Cons of Laser Underarm Hair Removal?

Underarm hair can be embarrassing for many women, and getting rid of unwanted hair can be a constant battle. Laser underarm hair removal has become a popular option for many women who wish to do away with the daily hassle of shaving underarm hair or the pain of waxing. There are many lifestyle benefits of laser hair removal, but there are some negative effects of the treatments, which include pain, risk of skin discoloration, and the cost of treatments.

Laser underarm hair removal machines work by sending wavelengths of light to the hair root or follicles. The light beams kill the hair and prevent future growth. There are various types of hair removal machines, and people should research or consult a physician who can recommend the right type of laser removal device for his or her skin type, hair color, and hair thickness. Several treatments are usually required to permanently remove underarm hair, and maintenance sessions are sometimes required to continue to prevent hair growth.

There are many benefits of laser underarm hair removal. Waxing and shaving can cause irritation bumps, darkening of the skin, and discomfort, and the consistent growth of hair requires the person to perform these maintenance activities on a daily or weekly basis. Laser hair removal is either permanent or greatly reduces the thickness and amount of hair regrowth. There is also no risk of ingrown hairs. Pain is usually minimal during the session, and there is usually only a slight redness of the area that was treated with a laser.

Laser underarm hair removal does have some associated risks and complications. Hypo-pigmentation and skin discoloration is a common concern for many people, especially those with olive or darker skin. Blistering, burning, or scarring of the skin can also occur. Many people experience pain and discomfort during initial treatments, but these symptoms are usually reduced during subsequent laser treatments. Laser hair treatments are most effective on people who have light skin and dark brown or black hair.

The cost of laser underarm hair removal treatments is high, usually ranging from $1,000 US Dollars (USD) to $3,500 USD for a treatment package. Recovery from the session is usually minimal, but some people experience skin flaking and sensitivity. A person should not expose his or her underarm skin to the sun for extended periods of time following the hair removal session, and the person should also use caution when applying creams that contain chemicals or other harsh substances.

Why is there such a wide range in laser hair removal prices? If I were to have this done I would want to make sure it was done by someone who really knew what they were doing.

I don't know if looking for the cheapest laser hair removal would be the best way to go about finding someone.

I have had more than one laser hair removal treatment. I have had this done under my arms, and laser hair removal on my bikini line.

There is a little bit of pain and redness for a short time, but it is really pretty minimal. I did end up having some discoloration under my arms from the removal, but I was told this might happen. It is barely noticeable and doesn't really bother me because nobody sees under my arms anyway.

I had this done for the convenience and am still amazed at how well it works.

I don't think the cost for laser hair removal is all that bad. When I think about the amount of time and hassle it saves, it is more than worth the investment. I had underarm laser hair removal done, and I would definitely recommend it to others who are considering it.

I had no idea the price of laser hair removal was so much. For $2000 I can buy a whole lot of razors and keep shaving under my arms as I have done all these years.

If you do this every day, it really only takes a few seconds. This is just part of my morning shower routine, and I don't give it much thought.

If I was going to spend this much money on laser hair removal I would rather use it for my legs, but that would also probably cost a lot more. It takes me longer to shave my legs than anything else in the shower, and I could see how that could really save me some time.
