@sweetpeas: I looked this up to help with my P.E. assignment. I'm in Australia, so they may just not do it in America or where you're from.

I think it would be a very good idea to teach children the biomechanics of the sports that they play. P.E. teachers and coaches could teach skills by practicing the body mechanics using one body part at a time.

Actually volleyball is difficult for young kids, so this would probably apply to teens. You can make it fun in some way so they wouldn't be bored by the repetition. There's lots of different ways you could teach the necessary movements of the feet, legs, arms, shoulders and hands.

After they get a good grasp of the movements, they'll be ready to learn the basics of volleyball. Hopefully this will cut down the number of injuries, and help the kids to be more skilled in the game.

Learning the biomechanics for many different sports is becoming popular, not just for professional sports, but for amateur sports.

The biomechanics for movements in volleyball are very complex, as they are for most sports. When someone is first learning a sport, I would break it down into parts. Maybe start with the footwork needed, then the arms and shoulders. Then eventually putting it all together. I would wait to use the ball until I had practiced a lot.

Then later you could get into videotaping and refining the maneuvers.
